HAVANA, May 16 (Ana Rosa Veitía, Grupo Decoro) - Former political
prisoner Ernesto Corría Cabrera was fired last week from his job at the Vía
Uno maintenance center because he is considered to be politically unreliable.
Company officials told Corría that he is against the Revolution, so
he couldn't continue working there.
Corría, 32, is the sole support of his 72-year-old mother and of his
brother, who has had mental problems.
"I am now at the mercy of the area chief of police, an officer named
Sosa, because since I'm unemployed, he can pick me up for social dangerousness,"
said Corría.
Corría served a three year sentence starting in 1997 for disrespect
to the person of Fidel Castro.
The sector chief of police, Sosa, has been charged by the Department of
State Security with maintaining a watch on Corría's home and activities.
