Citizen threatened for refusing to sign in support of the regime in
Guantánamo
(GUANTÁNAMO/CUBA/June27th/Puenteinfocubamiami.org) - Benito Heredia
Serrano, who resides at "calle Cuartel, e/ Prado y Jesús del Sol",
was threatened and pressured on June 16 by José Campos, president of the
Revolution Defense Committee on his block, for not participating in the
collection of signatures by the government.
This citizen had a firm response and said: "I cannot betray my
conscience, nor my country, because I signed the Varela Project, which I see as
legitimate and as the hope for the Cuban people."
Benito Heredia was threatened with having problems in the near future. He
was also informed that his attitude could affect his children's education.
According to Fidel Castro, signing is not obligatory. What do you call this?

This battle of ideals
http://www.puenteinfocubamiami.org/guantanamo.html
(GUANTÁNAMO/CUBA/June 27th/Puenteinfocubamiami.org)- During the 4
days in which signatures were collected, wherein the majority of the Cuban
people did not know why they marched or why they signed, many members of the
opposition in Guantanamo were harassed.
Luis Torres Cardosa, Alexis Pérez Lobo, Arnulfo Martínez, Félix
Cocera and his wife, Lazaro Gonzáles and Maria Josefa Díaz,
Isabel Díaz Fernández, Juan Carlos Herrera Acosta were among
those who were threatened, provoked and insulted.
Innumerable amounts of people were humiliated and offended because they
acted with dignity by refusing to play along in their game.
In my case, I was asked why didn't we take up arms and take to the streets,
wherein I responded that this was a peaceful fight of ideals, not a bloodbath
which is what the autocrat Fidel Castro would prefer.
