Small boats stolen in Cienfuegos

CIENFUEGOS, January 25 (Sunset Nogueras Rofes) – At least four boats have been stolen in Cienfuegos in the last two weeks.

In the early morning of January 16, two boats were taken from the GeoCuba shipyard near Cayo Loco, where the Naval Historical museum is located. The thieves presumably approached the yard by sea in a makeshift raft, knocked down a fence, launched the boats and took off in them.

At about the same time a life raft was stolen off a tugboat from Grand Cayman island that was awaiting repairs nearby in the LASTA shipyard. On January 24, also in the same vicinity, a life boat with a 12-person capacity was taken. That craft belonged to a Norwegian-owned sailing vessel that had been undergoing repairs for several months in a yard operated by the National Shipyard Company.

Police canine units and agents from the Technical Investigations Department have investigated the incidents with no apparent results so far.
