Public health authorities attempt to immunize at-risk patients with insufficient doses of gamma globulin

CIENFUEGOS, January 3 (Dr. Sunset Nogueras Rofes) – The campaign to immunize at-risk patients against hepatitis being carried out by the Ministry of Public Health in Cienfuegos, where an epidemic of the disease has been declared, is destined to fail, says a specialist at the Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology, because the 1 cc. doses administered are insufficient.

The specialist, who would not give his name for publication, said much larger doses are needed to be effective. Officials said there is not enough gamma globulin available, even though it is manufactured domestically.
