PINAR DEL RIO, January 24 (Martha Carmona Bello) - At 10 a.m. in the Provincial Tribunal of Pinar del Río, my son went on trial and he was arbitrarily sentenced to six months in jail.
Before the people gathered there, after a brilliant defense, the attorney showed Arroyo's innocence and the falsity of the prosecution's arguments. On the other hand, the prosecution said that the children do not need toys, because all they need is to have guaranteed their health and education,
and these are matters taken care of by the revolutionary government.
When they took my son out of the court house, he was surrounded by police. In public, he was violently pushed into a patrol car, and was beat while he was handcuffed, in front of his wife and 16-year-old daughter. Two policemen beat him. One hit him in the neck and the other pushed him. He could
be heard to say: "If you continue beating me, I am going to respond in kind." He also said in a loud voice: "The whole world will know, you have beat me."
All the people witnessed this abuse.
As a mother, I call on the world's public opinion to take an interest in my son's case, so that he may come out of prison alive, because I fear for his life.
