Permanent Act of Civil Disobedience to Protest Jailing of Journalist

PINAR DEL RIO, January 24 (Bertha Peraza, APO) - Several dissident groups in this city in western Cuba have declared a permanent vigil to protest the jailing of journalist Víctor Rolando Arroyo Carmona.

The vigil will be based in the home of Tomás Felipe Arrastía, of the Human Rights Party of Cuba, at house 93 in Reparto Vélez. The stated intention of the vigil is to demand the immediate and unconditional release of Arroyo and all Cuban political prisoners.

The vigil will commence at 8 p.m. tonight and the site will be open to all dissidents that may wish to participate in this act of peaceful protest.
