Four street peddlers arrested

HAVANA, March 15 (José Antonio Fornaris, Cuba- Verdad / www.cubanet.org) - Four women selling food outside the National Hospital in Havana were arrested February 13 in the morning after a police raid.

One of them is a pregnant 30-year-old who was selling guava pastries at 2 pesos, and sugared doughnuts at 1 peso each. A young man selling small ham sandwiches at 5 pesos each took off when police approached. One of the officers took out his side arm, but didn’t fire as the youth ran into a crowd of about 30 waiting in line for a bus.

Those arrested were reportedly taken to a police station located about 10 blocks away from the hospital.
