Massive layoffs expected in poultry farms

MATANZAS, January 21 (Caridad Díaz Beltrán, Lux InfoPress) - Authorities of the National Poultry Union in Matanzas province are expected to layoff 1,200 workers in the next few days.

On January 14, Antonio González Martí, the director of the feed processing plant in Colón, Matanzas, met with workers for the second time in less than a month to inform them of the impending layoffs.

Nearly 17 centers affiliated with the Poultry Union in the province are expected to close, sending their workers to perform agricultural labor at low salaries and under poor working conditions.
