Information Bridge Cuba Miami
(GUANTÁNAMO, CUBA, January, 2002) Prisoner Jorge Sterling López,
30 years old, has been sleeping on the floor of Ward A-500 in the provincial
prison "Combinado Guantánamo" for over two months because he
does not have a mattress or a bed.
The following people were informed of this situation: Lieutenant-Colonel
Jorge Chediak Pérez, Chief of the penitentiary center, Major Guillermo
Martínez Céspedes, Major Pablo Reyes Cobas, Head of the Interior
Order, Captain Silvestre Obret Herrera, Chief of the Department of State
Security, and Captain Víctor Reyes Cobas, re-educator of the
aforementioned Ward.
In an act of civil defiance, this prisoner is currently on a hunger strike
and as of yet he has not received a response. Things such as these that occur
in Cuban prisons cause us to question why the regime of Fidel Castro is so
cynical and rotten. Why do they claim to want better conditions for the 5 spies
(in U.S. jails) when in the Cuban Dungeons prisoners live in deplorable and
inhumane conditions?
Reported, Ferdinando Castro of Lardiller, Delegate in Guantánamo
of the Democratic Party November 30 "Frank País". For the
Information Bridge Cuba Miami. Given on January 9, 2002.
In Fidel Castro's jails, "plantados" are the most
stubborn political prisoners, the ones who have endured the harshes punishment.
