Common prisoner attacked by trained dogs in Combinado de Guantanamo

A note smuggled of the prison Combinado de Guantanamo by relatives of political
prisoner Luis Mariano Deli Utria, stated how on April 11th, 2002 two of the
trained dogs in the penitentiary brutally attacked a common prisoner Yosbani Ruíz
Valdés.
According to the information given to Yolanda Triana Estupiñan,
Director of the Bureau of Information of the Association of Political Prisoners
Pedro Luis Boitel in Havana, the incident happened after Ruiz Valdés
refused to perform forced labor at the Majimana Camp in Guantanamo.
"After the prisoner was transferred to a punishment cell known as
'tolitas', Captain Victor Reyes Cobas, reeducador of Company No.1 Section A-500,
ordered that two of the trained dogs of the penitentiary be thrown inside the
cell to attack the prisoner" – further stated Estupiñan.
Upon hearing the screams, the political prisoners began to scream for help
while some were able to witness as the dogs ripped apart the right arm of the
prisoner- finished saying Estupiñan.
In 1999, Luis Mariano Deli Utria began serving a thirteen year sentence for
the "supposed" crime of illegal exit of National territory.

Prisoner of conscience Larrazabal Zulueta returned to "Death Lane"
in Combinado de Guantanamo
(HAVANA, CUBA /April 23 /Puenteinfocubamiami.org)
– On April 22, 2002, prisoner of conscience Jorge Luis Larrazabal Zulueta,
member of the Unitary Council of Workers of Cuba (CUTC), who was sentenced to
three years in jail for the supposed crime of disrespect on January of the 2000,
was returned to a punishment hole at the section known as "Death Lane"
in Combinado de Guantanamo.
According to the information sent to us by some of the political prisoners
in the penitentiary in question, the health of Larrazabal Zulueta is
deteriorating rapidly. He has lost a lot of weight, it is impossible for him to
stand on his own and is having chest pains.
Jorge Luis Larrazabal Zulueta has been locked up for the past 6 months in
different punishment cells at Combinado de Guantanamo.
