HAVANA, September 20 (Edel José García, CNP / CubaNet) -
Students at San Cristóbal high school, in Pinar del Río province,
have not started classes for the current school year because the school's
kitchen is inoperative.
"The students, all of whom board at the school, were picked up at their
homes, but when they arrived at the school, they weren't fed because the cooks
realized the burners in the range weren't working," said Felipe Gavilla
Acosta. Students then went into town on their own to try to buy some food.
Later, the students were taken back to their homes, since neither school nor
municipal authorities have been able to solve the problem.
"They never should have mobilized the children before checking they had
the necessary conditions in place," one mother complained.
