HAVANA, October 2 (Juan Carlos Linares / CubaNet) - Many Havana residents
end up making their own envelopes when they want to mail a letter, because they
cannot find envelopes to buy at the Ministry of Communications outlets.
The post office in Santos Suárez, for example, only gets a few
envelopes a week. "We barely get a handful," said a postal employee.
Residents often walk from one post office to another looking for the envelopes
which they rarely find.
"I went to three post offices, and none had envelopes to sell. All
three said the same thing: 'We don't know when we'll get them,' " said an
old man in Arroyo Naranjo.
"When you really need an envelope, you somehow make it, but it's not
easy, because you either don't have the paper, or the glue, or the pencil to
write on it," said the old man.
