No help from the government to victims of hurricane in Cienfuegos

CIENFUEGOS, November 27 (Ramón Guillermo Medina, Cuba-Verdad / CubaNet) Hurricane cleanup and reconstruction efforts have lagged in Cienfuegos province and residents complain they have had no help from the government.

Dozens of families are living practically outdoors since their homes were at least partially demolished by the winds. "We have received no help from the government, not even a word about what’s going to happen to us," said one affected resident.

Four truck loads of roofing tile have been delivered to the area, but have not been distributed, some say, because they would not be enough to cover two percent of the need.

There are still many streets that haven’t been cleared of debris and areas without electricity.
