Flyers and signs ask for end to Castro government

PINAR DEL RIO, October 30 (Víctor Rolando Arroyo, UPECI / CubaNet) - Flyers and signs asking for an end to Fidel Castro's government showed up yesterday in "Manuel Lazo" township in Pinar del Río province.

"Whoever did this made a mockery of the government's security system, because they even spread flyers inside the police station," said one resident. The townspeople saw the signs painted on the walls of numerous houses and on the local pharmacy.

Horacio Julio Piña, a human rights activist, said that such signs had appeared around town before, but always in remote places.

"This is different," he said. "The town was literally inundated with flyers and signs."

Police agents were later put in charge of picking up the flyers and painting over the signs painted on the walls.
