Public phones vandalized in Havana

HAVANA, April 27 (Manuel David Orrio, CPI) - There seems to be an epidemic of vandalism against public phones in Central Havana. A recent informal survey revealed 32 out of 50 phones out of order, 10 of which had had the handle torn off.

The vandalism is hard to explain, given the very visible police presence in Central Havana 24 hours a day. Observers say the figures mirror those in other localities.
