New York, March 14 -- An exhibition of original silk- screened and offset
posters created in Cuba over the past 50 years will go on view April 12 at the
American Institute of Graphic Arts' Strathmore Gallery in New York.
Entitled ``Propaganda! Cuban Political and Film Posters,'' the exhibit
presents a vision of Cuban culture and is the first of its kind in New York to
demonstrate the poster's role in promoting revolution.
The exhibit also explores the visual vocabulary used by Cuban artists and
designers to convey political messages.
A rare collection of film posters designed for both Cuban and foreign films
will accompany the exhibit.
The exhibit will run through June 29.
The American Institute of Graphic Arts is located at 164 Fifth Ave. in
Manhattan. Gallery hours are 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday- Friday. For information,
