The Venezuelan President, Hugo Chavez, has met his counterpart and friend,
Fidel Castro, during a short visit to Cuba.
Mr Chavez announced the stopover unexpectedly at the end of his official
visit to the Dominican Republic.
On arriving in Havana, President Chavez said he would be reviewing
cooperation agreements between the two countries.
Venezuela provides oil at preferential rates to Cuba in exchange for goods
and services, like medical care, sports coaching and education.
He said he would visit some of the Venezuelans receiving treatment in Cuban
health centres. It's the fourth time President Chavez has visited Cuba since he
came to office in February 1999.
