Water shortage more acute lately in Santiago

SANTIAGO DE CUBA, March 4 (Luis Alberto Rivera, APLO) - The trucks that used to distribute water to the city’s neighborhoods every five days now only come around every 10 to 18 days.

There are several reasons for the shortages. Water levels in the existing reservoirs are below their usual levels and there are few trucks to distribute it. To boot, the drivers are said to sometimes divert the water for 100 pesos a load. Residents, meanwhile, must make do as best they can.
