HAVANA, July 17 (Juan Carlos Linares, Cuba Voz) - The program of license
plate renewals in Santiago de Cuba province was put on hold temporarily after
someone noticed the new plates for government-owned cars started with the
letters USA.
The program, started earlier this year and expected to be completed in 2003,
assigned letters identifying each region; Santiago got U and S, which resulted
in government vehicles' plates there starting with USA.
