Sir John Kerr, Permanent Under-Secretary at the Foreign and Commonwealth
Office will visit Venezuela, Cuba and Mexico from 812 July.
Sir John Kerr will visit Venezuela from 810 July. During his visit he
is expected to meet President Chavez, Finance Minister Rojas, Foreign Minister
Davila and Defence Minister Rangel. Discussions are likely to focus on areas of
mutual interest, including trade and investment, and prison reform. He will also
meet members of the British business community and the British-Venezuelan
Parliamentary Friendship Group at the National Assembly.
He will visit Cuba from 1011 July. Acting Foreign Minister Dalmau will
host the visit which is expected to include meetings with the Minister for
Government and International Economic Relations Cabrisas and the Vice Minister
for Foreign Trade Guillen. The discussions will cover a broad range of issues
including co-operation against drugs trafficking, and follows up the successful
visit by the then FCO Minister Baroness Scotland in September 2000.
He will visit Mexico from 1112 July. He will be leading the UK team
for the annual bilateral High Level Political Talks. He is also expected to meet
Minister of Foreign Affairs Casteneda. He will also meet local politicians and
members of the British business community and visit the British Council Offices
in Mexico City. |
