Cuba for economic, commercial cooperation with Iran

Tehran, July 2, IRNA -- Cuban Ambassador to Iran Dario de Urra Torriente here Monday called for economic and commercial cooperation between Iran and Cuba in the fields of oil, petrochemicals and shoe making.

In a meeting with Expediency Council (EC) Chairman Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, the Cuban ambassador stressed continuation of dialogue and exchange of visits by officials of the two countries.

Rafsanjani for his part hailed the position Cuba holds in Iran's foreign policy. He said that after victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran, there have been many commonalty between Tehran and Havana especially on global issues and campaign against colonialism and dictatorship.

He called for bilateral cooperation in exchange of information and technology given Cuba's progress in biotechnology.
