A group of legislators who visited Cuba last month is urging Governor
Ventura to lead a Minnesota delegation there.
Ventura reportedly is interested; his staff has been discussing a possible
trip to Cuba with governors from other Midwestern states.
Ventura has long opposed the U.S. trade embargo against Cuba. He told the
legislators he has notified the incoming Bush Administration, who tapped the
governor for a transition advisory panel on trade, that he supports opening
trade there.
Ventura spokesman John Wodele says the governor has been approached by the
Midwestern Governors Conference about making a joint trip to Cuba, but has made
no commitment.
