HAVANA, February 8 (Silvio Herrera, AFPCP) Local residents in La
Lisa, a Havana municipality, have been protesting because the government
converted a small park in the neighborhood into a kiosk that sells fried chicken
in dollars.
The park consisted of four benches where pensioners used to sit to while
away the time and wait for the truck that delivers the day's newspaper.
"Now the park has been demolished by DITU (one of the government
companies that operate in the dollar economy), which has built the kiosk to sell
in dollars," said one resident.
