Tehran, Feb 11, IRNA -- Cuban Ambassador to Iran Dario de Urra Torriente on
Sunday held talks with Majlis Speaker Mehdi Karroubi on Tehran-Havana relations.
Karroubi said that he is pleased with the growing relations between the
two countries adding that Iran and Cuba have cultural amity and share common
revolutionary outlooks.
He said that cooperation between parliaments of the two countries serves
to boost relations between governments.
Karroubi hoped that the upcoming conference of the Inter-Parliamentary
Union (IPU) due to be held in Havana in April would have a successful
performance.
He said that he was waiting for Speaker of Cuban National Assembly
Ricardo Alarcon de Quesada scheduled to visit Iran.
Torriente said that Iran and Cuba enjoy excellent political
relations and called for developing closer economic cooperation between Iran
and Cuba.
He said that President Mohammad Khatami's visit to Havana on September
30-October 1 was a turning point in bilateral relations and the scheduled visit
to Iran of President Fidel Castro would benefit national interests of the two
countries.
