SANTIAGO DE CUBA, January 31 (Luis Alberto Rivera, APLO) The Cuban
telephone company (ETECSA) announced that it will install an unspecified number
of new telephone lines in the homes of presidents of the Committees for the
Defense of the Revolution (CDR) and others considered loyal to the Revolution.
The digital system recently installed with the financing of foreign
investors in Santiago de Cuba makes it possible to expand telephone service in
the region.
In fact, anyone wishing to apply for the new telephone service can do so,
but the decision of who will receive it will be made by the CDRs and the local
Popular Power cells, who have already held block meetings announcing that the
new phone service will be assigned to loyalists and to all "who have shown
an impecable conduct in defending the conquests of Socialism."
