Apparent lack of interest shown by local members of communist youth

PINAR DEL RIO, January 30 (Víctor Rolando Arroyo, UPECI) – The national leader of the Communist Youth Union, Otto Rivero, criticized local leaders of the organization in San Cristóbal, Pinar del Río province, for failing to motivate youth to actively participate in the Communist Party’s youth organization.

Reports say last year, only about 500 new members joined the Communist Youth, and the members have shown evidence of lack of interest and high absenteism from regular meetings.

Apparently workers in agriculture, health, and education are underrepresented in the youth organization.
