The State Collects The Crop, But Doesn't Pay

CIENFUEGOS, November 15 (Alina Gonzalo, Cuba-Verdad) – Farmers in Aguada de Pasajeros, Cienfuegos province, complain that the State agency in charge of collecting foodstuffs accepts delivery of their crops but won't pay them.

The officials in charge of issuing the payments say that they will get paid at a future date, but farmers say they need the money to cover basic needs. Still, twice a week, the truck from the Sundry Crops State Enterprise collects the farmers' produce and takes it to the provincial capital, Cienfuegos.
