HAVANA, November Marcos Enrique Martínez Aparicio was born
under the sign of Leo on the 13th of August in a tenement at 368 Soledad street
in Central Havana.
He lives with 11 relatives in a room 10 by 13 feet. Unlike the others, he
has a bed to himself: an enameled washbasin brought to Cuba 44 years ago.
The others sleep on the floor, on a sheet from Granma, the official
newspaper of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba.
Next August 13 Marquitos will turn one year old, Cuban president Fidel
Castro will turn 75, and the washbasin will serve as bed and bath for another
child.
