HAVANA, May 22 (Mario J. Viera González, Cuba Voz) On May 19 at 1 p.m. State Security officials summoned independent journalist Ohalis Víctore Iribarren to an interview at the Office of Emigration. At the interview an officer who identified himself as "Major Humberto"
told Víctore that State Security would not approve her exit visa as long as she persisted in her activities as an independent journalist.
Víctore said she told the officer she would not "renounce her principles, not even in exchange for the white card," referring to the exit visa. Víctore has had a visa to go to the United States for some time now, but Cuban authorities will not issue her exit documents. On
April 17, Víctore was told that her visa was being withheld in "the best interests of the State."
