Distributors Face Problems With Refrigeration Equipment

HAVANA, May 8 (Mijail Barzaga Lugo, ANC) - Foodstuffs are spoiling with alarming frequency in distribution outlets of the government Food and Commerce Company (Empresa de Comercio y Gastronomía) due to the lack of refrigeration equipment in working order.

Milk, distributed only for children under age 7, and soy-enhanced ground meat are the principal products that occasionally spoil or frequently are sold in less-than-ideal state.

Officials of the Food and Commerce Company blame the lack of resources but acknowledged that the facilities handling foodstuffs for the tourism industry have all the necessary equipment for its proper handling and storage.
