CIEGO DE ÁVILA, May 9 (Emilio Martín Morales, FAPDH) - A 10 year-old boy was wounded at the Morón Teaching Hospital when someone removed a cast from his arm with a screwdriver for lack of the proper tools.
The boy, Johandri Sosa Jiménez, had had the cast put on for a wrist fracture he suffered on April 7. Twelve days later, X-rays revealed the fracture had not been properly reduced and a bone was out of place. The orthopedic specialist at the hospital ordered the cast removed and, since
both saws designed for the job were out of order, someone hacked the cast away with a screwdriver.
The boy was finally taken to surgery April 21.
