CIEGO DE ÁVILA, May 9 (Juan Carlos González Leyva, FAPDH) - An officer of the Ministry of the Interior discharged his regulation side arm against a truck transporting passengers, wounding at least one, on the road between Vertientes and Camagüey, in central Cuba.
The officer, whose last name is Primelles, tried to flag down the truck on the road, but wasn't wearing a uniform and was not otherwise identifiable as an officer to the driver, who chose to drive on.
Primelles then opened fire on the truck, wounding a 22 year-old man whose name has been withheld. The victim was taken to the Provincial Hospital in Camagüey with wounds in the kidneys and spleen.
The truck shows several bullet holes. The officer is said to be under arrest, but no details are available.
