CIEGO DE ÁVILA, May 3 (Segundo Pérez Echemendía, Partido Solidaridad Democrática) - Several residents of Jatibonico, in the south-central province of Sancti Spíritus, received attention at the local hospital for gastric distress presumably contracted after
eating mortadella obtained through the government quota.
The patients complained of diarrhea and stomach aches; some had to be given intra-venous fluids. They all said they became ill after eating mortadella distributed under the government rationing program on April 26.
