Teachers Or Police

HAVANA, April 27 (Fara Armenteros, UPECI) - Many teachers, nurses and other professionals abandon their line of work every year in search of better working conditions and a salary that will allow them to meet their basic needs. They usually try to find something related to tourism or commerce that will give them at least a limited access to dollars.

Teachers, however, are forbidden to work in those fields by public law 176, of 1998, and their only option to increase their income is to join the police or another similar body in the government's vigilance system.
