CIEGO DE AVILA, April 25 (FAPDH) - A considerable quantity of counterfeit U.S. currency may be circulating in Cuba.
Mary Ferrer, the administrator of a dollar store in this central Cuban province, estimates that "around a million dollars in counterfeit currency are circulating in the country."
The comment came up at a meeting in a dollar department store in Morón, Ciego de Ávila province, after a foreign tourist passed a bad $100 bill. Officers of the National Police's Technical Department of Investigations and of the Interior Ministry who attended the meeting confirmed
that the bill was counterfeit.
The cashier who accepted the bill at the store, a young man named Yuniesky, will have to pay back the money.
