PINAR DEL RIO, March 28 (Bertha Peraza, APO) - Municipal authorities have confiscated more than 17 pedicabs from private operators since March 12 for lack of the proper license.
The operators were fined 500 pesos in addition to losing their means of earning a livelihood.
The pedicabs became popular during the so-called "special period" to fill in for the shortages in transportation. Many of the operators say they don't have a license because the State makes them difficult to obtain or outright places limits on the number of permits available.
