SANTIAGO DE CUBA, June 13 (Luis Alberto Rivera, APLO) A rally in a neighboring city demanding the return of rafter boy Elián González basically paralized Santiago, Cubas second largest city, on June 10.
All available public transportation was pressed into transporting thousands of people to Palma Soriano, 26 miles (42 kilometers) away, where the rally, presided by Minister of the Armed Forces Raúl Castro, was held.
Transportation services in Santiago were nonexistent from before dawn until about 2 p.m.
