HAVANA, July 13 (Ricardo González Alfonso) - Two officers of the Department of State Security visited leading dissident Bárbaro Antonio Velo Crego yesterday and warned him not to participate in any of the events planned to commemorate the sixth anniversary of the sinking of the 13
de Marzo tugboat.
Velo Crego, 45, is the president of the 6th of January Civic Movement. A "captain Alberto" and another agent went to Velos home and advised him not to participate in any of the days events.
"They threatened to expose me as their agent through the Internet if I didnt behave," said Velo. He also said: "They dont know what to do next."
On July 13, 1994, Cuban coast guard and border patrol vessels rammed and sank the tugboat "13 de Marzo" with 41 people on board, 20 of them minors. The party was trying to leave Cuba for the U.S. Six years later, those responsible for the sinking have not been prosecuted.
