MATANZAS, January 25 (Félix Navarro Rodríguez, Democratic Movement "Pedro Luis Boitel") - Our organization, in conjunction with the Alternative Option Movement, adds its voice to the national outcry in demanding the immediate freedom of jailed journalist Víctor Rolando Arroyo Carmona.

We were deeply disturbed to learn the news that the court had ratified Arroyo's six month sentence for buying and distributing toys among Cuban children.

It is inconceivable that in the year 2000 a regime that claims to be a modern State punish a peaceful man who loves children. Fidel Castro's regime punished Víctor Rolando Arroyo Carmona simply for providing a moment of happiness to some of the countless children that don't have access to the United States dollar.

Cuban justice is gravely ill, as demonstrated by the Arroyo case. We join our voice in protesting such arbitrariness and demand the freedom of our brother Víctor Rolando Arroyo Carmona.
