Cuban sugar freight orders speed up

LONDON, Jan 6 (Reuters) - Sugar freight enquiries for Cuban cargoes were starting to build up, shipbrokers said on Thursday.

They said that the Cuban sugar cane harvest was slightly later this year due to wet weather but noted one of the first fixtures for a 25,000 tonnes bulk cargo to Russia at nearly $23 a tonne.

Puerto quetzal to Baltic/Black Sea, prompt onwards
ED & F Man 14,000 t, bagged
Durban to Iran, spot shipment
Erlebach (agents) 20,000/30,000 t, bulk
Cuba to Baltic/Black Sea, Jan 20-30 shipment
Louis Dreyfus 14,000 t, bulk
Thailand to Colombo, Jan 15-25 shipment

Cuba to Baltic/Black Sea, Jan 10-20 shipment, $22.50/$23.00/tn Louis Dreyfus booked "Sofia" (built 1975) 35,000/36,000 tonnes bulk sugar from Brazil to Crockett, prompt shipment $21.90/tn
