Singer Xenos to Establish Trust Fund for Elian Gonzalez

MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 3, 2000--Singer Xenos Investment Management announced that they will be donating their services to create and manage a trust fund for Elian Gonzalez, the six year old Cuban refugee whose story has made international headlines. Jay Schechter, Wealth Manager of Singer Xenos, will be managing the fund.

The trust fund will be used to collect the donations that are being given to Elian by those sympathetic to his dilemma. These funds will assist Elian and his family pay for services that directly benefit him, such as any legal fees, housing, education, etc.

"Elian has been through more in last few months than most people have in a lifetime," said Schechter. "Our goal is to give Elian the means for a bright and prosperous future no matter whether he lives in the United States or Cuba."

Last month, Elian was found suffering from dehydration off the coast of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, while strapped to an inner tube. He and his mother, who did not survive, fled their native home of Cuba in search of a better life in the United States. A battle has ensued between Elian's U.S. relatives; his father in Cuba, who wants him back home and the two governments to see if Elian will be allowed to stay in the U.S. or if he will be returned to Cuba.

Donations can be made to the Elian Gonzalez Trust by contacting Jay Schechter, of Singer Xenos, at 888/289-0060.
