PLACETAS, February 24 (María Elena Alpízar, Cuba Press) - Several young inmates in the provincial prison of Holguín, eastern Cuba, have inoculated themselves with the virus that causes AIDS to protest the long sentences they are serving.
According to a report by the dissident organization "Pedro Luis Boitel," the presence of seven inmates in the prison with HIV constitutes a risk for the penal population due to the lack of medical supplies in the facility.
The newly affected inmates are Maikel Abreus Ballester, 22; Zoltán Hernández Caballero, 21; and Johán Álamo Machado, 19.
