Student Expelled from Military School for Telling Jokes

CAMAGÜEY, February 14 (Enrique Maceo, Cuba Press) - A student was expelled from military school Camilo Cienfuegos in Camagüey, central Cuba, for telling jokes that implied criticism of the socialist government of the island.

Víctor Manuel García Yaque, 16, was telling jokes to an enthusiastic audience of classmates when he was overheard by Spanish teacher Caridad Soler, who reported him to the administration. García was expelled immediately, after being questioned by two officers of military intelligence.

The student was told to forget going to a university, since universities are for revolutionaries, said relatives.
