Political Police Harass Independent Journalist at Home

HAVANA, February 9 (María Elena Rodríguez, Cuba Verdad) - An officer of the Department of State Security who calls himself Jesús tried to arrest independent journalist Amarilis Cortina Rey at home.

The agent did not, however, have a valid arrest warrant and Ms. Cortina refused to accompany him. The agent left, threatening that he would be back.

This is the third time this agent tries to intimidate Ms. Cortina at home, telling her that her work as a journalist is illegal. This is the same officer, who also calls himself Ramiro, that had threatened Cuba-Verdad journalists telling them he would make them pass as State Security agents.
