Open sewer endangers health

HAVANA, December 13 (Moraima Pires, Grupo Decoro) – An open sewer endangers the health of more than 200 students and of the neighbors of the José de la Luz y Caballero elementary school in Havana.

The sewage runs along Calzada del Cerro, between Zaragoza and Palatino, as a result of stoppages in the school’s drainage system. The neighbors say they have reported the problem repeatedly to the municipal authorities in charge of water and sewers.

The school remains open in spite of the problem.
