Authorities block dissident meeting

HAVANA, November 29 (Alida Viso Bello) – Authorities prevented a regularly-scheduled monthly meeting of heads of dissident organizations from taking place November 27.

Police arrested three and kept others away from the "Baraguá" farm, which is the headquarters of the November 30th Movement, a dissident organization.

The arrested are: Jorge Enrique Santana Carreira, Luis Oswaldo Manzaneira Cúcalo - both members of the November 30th Movement - and Humberto Guerra Perugorría, president of Liberal Movement, informed Mercedes Constantín, director of Centro de Información sobre la Democracia.

The police also kept Pedro Batista Méndez, another member of the November 30th Movement, from attending and threaten and insulted José Orlando González Bridón, of the CTDC.

Two independent journalists, Oswaldo de Céspedes Feliú and Juan González Febles, were among those turned away from the environs of the farm.
