HAVANA, April 7 (Lucas Garve, CPI) - People with medically-prescribed diets complain that chicken at controlled prices is unavailable at the same establishments that sell chicken quarters at 23 pesos a pound.
An older gentleman reflected that he couldn't understand why they could sell chicken at 23 pesos a pound when the rationed chicken has not been available in two months. "I'm not a thief, or a millionaire, to be able to pay those prices." Other customers present agreed with the man's
exposition.
The sale of chicken quarters at 23 pesos a pound has become common in many stores in Havana. But the distribution of rationed chicken for people with prescription diets due to special nutritional needs has become very sporadic.
