HAVANA, August 28 (Oswaldo de Céspedes, CPI) Lack of fuel is paralyzing the freight trucks in the city of Havana.
Government officials have said the present crisis is due to the recent increase in the price of oil in the international market.
The Freight by Truck Company in Havana recently received delivery of only 60 tons of oil, out of 160 that had been assigned to it for the trimester. The latest directive, according to a worker in the company, is to stop the trucks as they run out of fuel and leave them parked in the yard. The
only deliveries that will receive priority treatment are those pertaining to tourism and to foreign businesses. The scarcity of fuel is similarly adversely affecting fisheries, agriculture and industry.
