HAVANA, August 25 (Rev. Ernesto Iturriaga, Cuba Voz) Power outages are becoming common again in the Cuban capital and the power company can not or will not explain the reasons for the interruptions in the service.
For a week now Havana residents have had to put up with the twin irritations caused by heat and mosquitoes without fans or cold water to mitigate their effect. They have also had to miss much of the latest soap opera, although they complain that the televised "informative round tables"
and the "open tribunes" are never affected by the lack of electricity. These last are nightly propaganda programs put on by the government since the Elián González controversy of a few months back. Residents also comment that the Communist Party offices also never seem to
lack electrical service.
