Physicians Scarce In Children’s Hospital In Havana

HAVANA, August 21 (Mijail Barzaga Lugo, ANC) – The parents of the patients at the children’s hospital in San Miguel del Padrón, a suburb of Havana, complain about delays and poor service due to the scarcity of physicians.

"My daughter has a fever," said the mother of a 4-year-old. "We have been here since 11 a.m. and it is now 5:30 p.m. and she hasn’t been seen."

The receptionist said "What happens is that there aren’t enough doctors; for example, only two are working today."

One father, waiting to have his daughter seen, said "The government sends doctors abroad, but in this hospital there aren’t enough working." The hospital is the only children’s hospital in San Miguel del Padrón.
